Light for Life believes in long term sustainable projects which should provide benevolent relief to widows and orphans who are left behind when the bread-earner of a family has died due to any act of violence and terrorism. Socio-economic research and surveys substantiate the fact that such violence has a deep and long-lasting impact on the family’s ability to lead a meaningful life in a vibrant and inclusive society.
Therefore we have initially started five projects specifically focussing on Pakistan due to increasing incidents of terrorism and violence which has had a major impact on lives of people in Pakistan.

Education SupportHuman Capital Development

As reflected by the name, we are committed to use this fund to provide educational support to orphans whose schooling and academic growth has been adversely impacted due to the loss of the bread-earner in their family as a result of an act of violence and terrorism.

The education fund has been established to cover monthly school fees and other tuition/books expense for students up to high school / 12th grade. The monthly subscription for this fund is only $25.
With a very small amount of money (from 85cents/day) you can bring the light of education and a better future to a deserving orphan. There are currently more than 1000 children whose education is being sponsored by our local partner in Pakistan. The number of affected and deserving children is increasing due to continuing incidents of violence and terrorism related deaths in Pakistan.

If you have a Paypal Account, you can subscribe to this Education fund. Paypal will automatically deduct the monthly amount of $25 from your nominated bank account / Credit Card once you sign up for monthly subscription by clicking the “Subscribe” button below. Family Sponsorship - Orphans and Widows

In many situations the surviving family members have no means of income and it is very difficult for them to become self-reliant due to various factors such as children being young and the widows either being uneducated or full-time housewives.

Therefore this sponsorship program will provide a monthly stipend to affected families. This stipend will cover expenses like basic utility bills, rents and rations and other daily expenses. The monthly subscription for this fund is only $60.

Medical Fund - Benevolent Relief

Even in the event of survival as a result of any act of violence and terrorism, the affected person undergoes lot of mental trauma and physical injuries which lead to a miserable life especially in case of loss of any limbs or organs. In Pakistan like any other developing country, it is impossible for a poor family to cope up with the high cost of medical treatment due to absence of a welfare system. Sometimes due to lack of resources the injured and sick cannot even travel to medical facilities, let alone affording good quality healthcare.

Through our affiliates, we work on schemes to ensure that a reasonable quality healthcare is provided to affected individual or family in multiple locations across Pakistan including the cost of travelling if required.

We urge you to contribute in this important cause to provide good health care to survivors so that they can strengthen their abilities and once again become a productive member of the society.

Micro-Finance - Self-Reliance

Most of the time we come across brave honourable souls who do not want to take handouts but if possible these mountains of courage and self-esteemed survivors of any act of violence and terrorism would prefer to earn their own bread even though they have lost their major limbs and organs.Little start-up financial assistance is generally sufficient for them to organise some source of earning money and effectively respond to their family day-to-day expense.

Therefore we whenever possible try to help people to stand on their own feet and earn their own living through various means such as cottage industries, small retail outfits and any other suitable sources.

Marriage Fund - Building Family Institution

Light for Life believes in building family institutions as leaders of the world, irrespective of their political or religious affiliation emphasize the importance of the family unit in an inclusive society. But unfortunately poverty is one of the main reasons which restrict people to get into a nuptial bond and finding a suitable life partner to attain a happy course of life.

Results of research and surveys support the need of a special fund which can share the hefty burden of the cost involved in organising marriage of poor orphan girls whose sole bread-earning family member has died due to any act of violence and terrorism.

Therefore please donate generously to this very important cause and effectively contribute to bring happiness to the life of a young orphan girl.

Up Coming Projects

Light for Life will investigate the prospect of relevant support programs for asylum seekers within the Immigration Detention Centres in Australia as well as refugees recently released from Detention on Protection / Refugee visas. The over-arching aim of such programs will be to provide initial support services to make the asylum seekers acclimatise to the new environment in which they find themselves. Such initiatives may include programs like:

  • Culture-sensitive training programs.
  • Social bonding events to meet and make friendships with people from similar backgrounds
  • Settlement aid programs
